This is the conceptual design of the Turnround Roof, a movable roof structure which can rotate with minimal effort up to 90 degrees towards both sides to change into a vertical wall. The design is almost perfectly inherently gravity balanced, which means that gravity and the weight of the roof structure have minimal influence on the actuation. The kinematic design is such that for each pose the center of mass is always approximately at the same height, i.e. there is no risk that the mass or the roof 'could fall down'.
